“Green packaging” will win more word of mouth

32

As the country vigorously advocates "green packaging" products and services as the focus of industry development, the concept of low-carbon environmental protection has gradually become the main theme of society. In addition to paying attention to the product itself, consumers also pay more attention to the energy saving and environmental protection of packaging. More and more consumers consciously choose light packaging, degradable packaging, recyclable packaging and other related products. In the future, green packaging products are expected to win more market reputation.

The development track of "green packaging"

Green packaging originated from "Our Common Future" published by the United Nations Commission on Environment and Development in 1987. In June 1992, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development passed the "Rio Declaration on Environment and Development", "21 Agenda for the Century, and immediately set off a green wave around the world with the protection of the ecological environment as the core. According to people's understanding of the concept of green packaging, the development of green packaging can be divided into three stages.

In the first stage

from the 1970s to the mid-1980s, "packaging waste recycling" said. At this stage, simultaneous collection and treatment to reduce environmental pollution from packaging waste is the main direction. During this period, the earliest decree promulgated was the United States’ 1973 Military Packaging Waste Disposal Standard, and Denmark’s 1984 legislation focused on the recycling of packaging materials for beverage packaging. In 1996, China also promulgated the "Disposal and Utilization of Packaging Waste"

The second stage is from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s, At this stage, the U.S. environmental protection department put forward three opinions
on packaging waste:

1. Minimize the packaging as much as possible, and use less or no packaging

2. Try to recycle commodity packaging containers.

3. Materials and containers that cannot be recycled should use biodegradable materials. At the same time, many countries in Europe have also proposed their own packaging laws and regulations, emphasizing that manufacturers and users of packaging must pay attention to the coordination of packaging and the environment.

The third stage is "LCA" in the mid-to-late 1990s. LCA (Life Cycle Analysis), that is, "life cycle analysis" method. It is called "from the cradle to the grave" analysis technology. It takes the whole process of packaging products from raw material extraction to final waste disposal as the research object, and conducts quantitative analysis and comparison to evaluate the environmental performance of packaging products. The comprehensive, systematic and scientific nature of this method has been valued and recognized by people, and it exists as an important subsystem in ISO14000.

Features and concepts of green packaging

Green packaging conveys brand attributes. Good product packaging can protect product attributes, quickly identify brands, convey brand connotations, and enhance brand image

Three major characteristics

1. Safety: the design cannot endanger the personal safety of users and the normal ecological order, and the use of materials should fully consider the safety of people and the environment.

2. Energy-saving: try to use energy-saving or reusable materials.

3. Ecology: The packaging design and material selection take environmental protection into consideration as much as possible, and use materials that are easily degradable and easy to recycle .

Design concept

1. Material selection and management in green packaging design: When selecting materials, the use and performance of the product should be considered, that is, to choose non-toxic, non-polluting, easy-to-recycle, reusable.

2. Product packaging recyclability design: At the initial stage of product packaging design, the possibility of recycling and regeneration of packaging materials, the value of recycling, recycling methods, and recycling processing structure and technology should be considered, and an economic evaluation of recyclability should be carried out to make waste reduced to a minimum.

3. Cost accounting of green packaging design: At the initial stage of packaging design, its functions such as recycling and reuse must be considered. Therefore, in cost analysis, we should not only consider the internal costs of the design, manufacturing and sales process, but also consider the costs involved.
